Motion includes fast, precise, continuous, shifting, or non-shifting motion types, most of which are driven by motors. Different motion types have suitable motor types. These motor types include: single-phase or three-phase AC series motors, permanent magnet brushed DC motors, brushless DC motors (BLDC) with electronic commutation, and geared motors (AC/DC/BLDC motors organically combined with gearboxes). Motor selection has three steps: First, determine the most suitable motor type based on the different motions; second, after selecting the motor type, determine the motor's technical specifications and size; third, determine the motor type based on the energy regulations of the region or country.

1. Determine the most suitable motor type based on different motions:

For applications that run continuously and rarely shift, AC series motors are a better choice.

For discontinuous dynamic applications, brushed or brushless DC motors are ideal choices.

For low-speed, high-load applications, geared motors are necessary, i.e., AC series motors/DC motors + gearboxes with specific reduction ratios.

For applications requiring stepless speed regulation, brushless DC motors are the best choice.

For applications requiring precise positioning, stepper motors are a better choice.

2. After selecting the motor type, determine the motor's technical specifications and Size:

To determine the technical specifications, the power, torque, and speed of the motor must first be determined.

To determine the Size, you must know the motor's volume and how to install it (how to fix it in the system?).

When selecting the motor's Size and robustness, the industrial environment in which the motor operates must also be considered: each environment (explosion, humidity, corrosion, high and low temperatures, etc.) has different designs.

For harsh environments, waterproof, dustproof, and shockproof housings need to be added to the motor.

3. Consider the specific energy regulations of the region or country to determine the motor type:

The higher the energy efficiency of the motor, the more energy-efficient the corresponding product, which can help customers enhance their products' competitive advantage in the market.
